Sheafe Street Inn

Portsmouth

A 19th century Federal period townhouse. Always been an Inn or tavern.

Many years ago sailors walking past the Inn would sometimes find themselves thrown to the sidewalk for no apparent reason. A prior women owner, when undressing on her bed, felt someone push her off the bed. After this happened a second time she fled the place.

Sound of doors opening and footsteps climbing stairs, with no one actually there.

In 1914 a carver of American Eagles, John Haley died in the building.
